Diagnostic Breast Exams

The increased sensitivity of a Tomosynthesis exam decreases the need for unnecessary diagnostic procedures.

Diagnostic Breast Imaging Procedures are performed when the radiologist identifies an area on the screening mammogram that is suspicious.  Using more specialized imaging such as additional mammogram views, ultrasound and MRI, the radiologist can determine if the suspicious area is normal breast tissue, othe benign findings or if the area is a lesion that requires a biopsy procedure.  All diagnostic procedures require an order from your physician.  The radiologist will consult with your doctor to determine which procedure is best for you.
